Why art?

Why is art so important? And why would one pursue this? For me, Art, Compassion and Play are the foundations for creativity, construction and deconstruction. With these we can celebrate life and find a sustainable way of living.

The compassionist manifesto

Dear, let me introduce you to the compassionist manifesto. I wrote it because I believe its content can help the world and its inhabitants find a more peaceful and sustainable future.

Verse I. Compassion does not hide pain, it brings it to the surface so that you can feel it, acknowledge it and eventually release it. Compassion does not turn away from darkness. It embraces darkness as much as it embraces light. Compassion knows that in order to be whole we must embrace the whole spectrum from light to dark. Compassion does not turn away from death. Compassion stays and feels everything that comes its way and releases that for which it is time to go, that for which it is time to die. Compassion is a lover in your darkest, deepest, scariest hour. It is always there, by your side and when you embrace it you know there is nothing you cannot endure.

Verse II. With compassion you never have to be embarrassed about yourself. Your sadness, your loneliness, your jealousy, anger, hate or rage. You do not even need to feel embarrassed about your own embarrassment. With compassion you can get to know yourself and find endless love for yourself. With compassion we can see the real in people and plants and all of the living. We do not have to judge or categorize. Everything is and must be exactly as it is. We do not need to bark or manipulate or change somebody else. We can acknowledge and walk away from that which is not for us.

Verse III. Compassion lets you explore the innermost, deepest desires of your soul, beyond normative aspirations accredited by current social and cultural structures. Compassion loves diversity and thrives from seeing everyone being their true self. As an art form compassion breaks the boundaries of inhibition, it does not ask what is considered beautiful or correct in art. It is an expression and exploration without rules or dogma. Compassion loves to play

Verse IV. Compassion is nonviolence. With compassion you will state your boundaries without attacking, leave those alone who are not willing or ready to interact with you and you will never, ever harm yourself. Even when life brings you experiences which make you judge your choices or actions, compassion will guide you with love. Compassion is love in its purest form. Only love can reduce suffering and destruction.

Follow me and I aim to inspire you to find more compassion in Your life.
